  • The third step is to relax for 3 to 5 seconds.

Gomukhasana is named after a cow. As “Go” in Sanskrit means Cow, “Mukha” means face the posture brings illusion of the face of a cow. The crossed legs create the cow’s snout and mouth, and the arms create the cow’s ears.

How to Perform Gomukhasana

  • Sit on the ground with Dandasana posture. Your legs stretched out in front of you, 
  • Now gently Cross fold your legs and place it over any one of your thighs as shown in the image.
  • Place both your knees close together as they are stacked one on top of the other.
  • Gently fold your arms and place them behind your back. Take your right arm over your right shoulder and catch your other hand like a hinge. Practice vice-versa.

  • Press the front of the right thigh heavily to the floor, and push actively through the right heel.
  • Loop a strap around the arch of the left foot and hold the strap in both hands.
